Do I need upper body strength?

No, our students come in all shapes and sizes! All of our beginning courses are geared at the total beginner. We offer an aerial conditioning class specifically focused on building  a strong and flexible body for those interested in a specifically targeting their fitness- versus our other classes which also deal with skill building and choreography.

Is there a minimum fitness level for these classes?

All levels, ages, and body types are welcome (8+).  Students with the following physical limitations should consult their doctor before participating in aerial acrobatics: Pregnancy, glaucoma, recent surgery (esp. shoulder, eyes, back, hips, hands or wrist), heart disease, very high or low blood pressure, easy onset vertigo, osteoporosis / bone weakness, recent head injury, cerebral sclerosis, propensity for fainting, carpal tunnel syndrome, severe arthritis, sinusitis or head cold, hiatal hernia, disc herniation or acute, discogenic disease, recent stroke, artificial hips, radiculitis (inflammation of nerve root in spine), severe muscle spasms.

Which level class should I sign up for?

If you have never done aerial arts before- no matter what your background is you should sign up for a beginning class. Beginner classes include: Trapeze 1, Lyra 1, Silks 1, and Aerial Conditioning. Partner Acro is a mixed level class which also includes beginners.  Students repeat the level 1 class until they have mastered the skills needed for level 2.  This process depends completely on the individual and how fast you master the skills required for the next class.  Check in with your instructor anytime to discuss when you will be moved to the next course level.

What do I bring?

Tight fitting comfy clothing that covers your stomach and the back of your knees, water bottle, a yoga mat and a towel. We love you all- but PLEASE bring a towel if you are a super sweaty person.  Make sure your feet are clean! Socks are optional for trapeze or lyra.
